Our River Ride takes you over the French Broad River, where you will see Douglas Lake and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in the distance. Fly past the French Broad River and out to beautiful Douglas Lake, a 28,000-acre manmade lake with over 500 miles of shoreline. This flight takes you to an altitude of about 1,500 feet, providing a superb view of the Smoky Mountains to the South. Along the way you will see areas of farmland and quilt-like patterns of pasture land. As you approach the lake you’ll fly next to Douglas Dam, a hydroelectric facility constructed in 1942-1943 at the height of World War II.

The Extended Lake Tour includes and extends beyond the Lake View flight. You will fly directly over Douglas Dam and proceed across Douglas Lake, nationally renowned for both largemouth bass and crappie fishing. In the summer, you’ll see astonishing sun-glistening views of the water and people enjoying their time on the lake. During the winter, TVA lowers the water level generating electricity, so you’ll have majestic views of exposed islands and coves.

As your flight heads southwest, you will see the Great Smoky Mountains in the distance. On this flight, the helicopter climbs to a slightly higher altitude than on the Lake View flight, allowing for greater visibility of the national park.

The highlight of this trip is getting up close and personal with Bluff Mountain and Sugarloaf Mountain, both of which were formed by a glacier at the end of the last ice age.

A definite crowd pleaser! Our Ridge Runner tour is an exciting flyover of the Chilhowee Mountain Range and Bluff Mountain. This scenic helicopter tour starts with a bird’s eye view of downtown Sevierville and the Tennessee Valley. As the flight proceeds, you’ll travel over the foothills of the Smoky Mountains and the outskirts of Pigeon Forge and Waldens Creek with excellent views of the Smoky Mountain National Park. Your journey continues as you round the back side of Bluff Mountain, featuring over 6,000 acres of undeveloped land.


While flying low over the treetops, you’ll cross the top of Bluff Mountain where the ridgeline drops away and views go from 100 feet to 80 miles in the blink of an eye. It truly is a sight to see! Heading back in, you’ll follow the sheer, glacier-carved rock cliff side of Bluff Mountain and Sugarloaf Mountain before soaring across the beautiful rolling foothills as you return to the heliport!

Upon departure you will travel over historic downtown Sevierville with the Smoky Mountain National Park in the distance. After Sevierville, we continue over the rolling foothills of the Smoky Mountains and the Pigeon Forge Parkway before getting away from civilization over Pine Mountain.


As you climb in altitude, you’ll follow the terrain up to the crest of Cove Mountain at the National Park boundary line where you’ll be met with spectacular views of the Wears Valley area. Continuing along Wears Valley, your tour travels northbound over the east end of Waldens Creek and the foothills of Bluff Mountain before returning over the Tennessee Valley to Scenic Helicopter Tours Heliport.

Taking off over historic downtown Sevierville you are instantly greeted with stunning views of the Smokies. The flight continues over the Pigeon Forge Parkway while taking in all the sights of the surrounding areas as you move southward to Gatlinburg.

Once over Gatlinburg, you’ll head west far and away from civilization and into the national park boundary! Get your camera ready as this is a very popular area for wildlife viewing with an unrestricted bird’s eye view! Fly over the stunning Sugarland Valley, Fighting Creek Gap, and into the park’s Elkmont community. Rounding out of the Elkmont area you’ll be presented with views of Mount LeConte, Clingmans Dome and Cove Mountain. Views along the route include Elkmont, Blanket Mountain, Meigs Mountain, Tremont and Thunderhead. Depending on the time of day, there is a good possibility you’ll see wildlife.
